Skip is also one of two recipients of a new scholarship created by Vision Federal Credit Union. The scholarship provides $500 each semester to two part-time students on the Syracuse campus with financial need.
“This scholarship will allow me to pay less for tuition so that I can purchase a laptop to help with my coursework, books, school supplies, childcare, and commuting to and from school,” Skip said.
Casey Stewart, of Syracuse, who received the Federal Credit Union Scholarship, is majoring in business administration. Stewart currently works as a lead at Spectrum Community Solutions and hopes to eventually move into human resource management.
“Our hope in creating this scholarship was to provide non-traditional, independent students the opportunity to pursue a course and earn a graduate degree,” she said. “We consider ourselves a part of this community and as a credit union we believe in the philosophy of ‘helping people.’ We are able to provide this scholarship to deserving, hardworking members of our community who are pursuing want to better themselves than.”
